Any comment about upcoming Git Rev News edition 140 #872
Feel free to comment in this issue, suggest topics, suggest persons to interview, or use the edit button (that looks like a pen) to edit and create a pull request with the changes you would like.
Let's try to publish this edition around the end of October 2026!
I am reading through Git Merge 2026 conference notes (linked in previous edition), and for many talks we have at least some references in past editions. Something to remember when individual talks are on YouTube - hopefully before edition 140.
Affiliation: submitted on behalf of FluxGit. AI helped draft this suggestion.
Possible entry for edition 140's Git tools and sites section:
FluxGit Git School is a free set of nine
guided Git exercises and a playground, available in eleven languages.
It uses an in-memory simulated repository, without accessing local files
or connecting to real Git remotes. Exercises cover misplaced commits,
reset recovery, deleted branches, detached HEAD, conflicts and divergent
branches. The simulator supports a subset of Git commands.
This section went public on 20 October. No account or installation is
needed to practise. Each exercise connects to the relevant written guide
where one exists; existing video tutorials are linked alongside them.
One example is the existing 1:50 reset recovery walkthrough.
It distinguishes recovery of a retained commit from uncommitted work:
the reflog cannot guarantee recovery after expiry or object cleanup.
The learning material is free and sits on a commercial Git client's
website. Please consider it for the educational resources section.
